3d: What do you take me for?
So. Today I went to the local cinema to watch The Green Hornet, a movie I have been waiting for, as I am a big fan of Seth Rogen and the original 1966-67 Green hornet series, starring Van Williams and Bruce Lee. I received what I wanted in the story and the acting was fitting of the roles being played. But I was continually distracted by the lack of clarity which 3D cinema allows. What's more there was no alternative to 3D, in fact only two cinemas in the country were showing in 2D.
In a few short months the hype surrounding HD TV has been stompped on by the out of focus foot of 3D stereoscopic cinema. The people responsible for providing us with entertainment, be it serious works of fiction or some half arsed drivel about vampires and goblins, have decided that this way of viewing cinema through uncomfortable spectacles is somehow going to improve our cinema experience. I have heard excuses such as preventing pirating of said films but how can this be something for the viewer? The whole drive behind 3D viewing seems to only benefit cinema companies and film distributors. Don't get me wrong these guys work hard to provide us with entertainment, whether their judgement of material is good or not. Surely their main priority should be the customers who frequent the cinema.
The prices are so high why not just download it off the internet for free? You even get people walking around in the front row for the genuine cinema experience. It is as if the people in charge are searching for ways to get our money. Is it not clear that more people go to the cinema on a WEDNESDAY than any other day? If the tickets to the cinema where half the price twice the amount of people would go? What happened to packed cinemas isn't the result of the internet or DVD sales, although they are a contributing factor. Surely £7+ isn't a reasonable price per person, and more for popcorn a known cinema must.
Isn't value for money how Tescos has taken over the country, if everyone knows they're getting a deal then every one will buy into it. I could go to the cinema every night, wouldn't that be great?
It frustrates me that my options are being narrowed to the point where I will no longer bother going to the cinema. How will that effect your bonus Mr Movie man? (thats not his name i just don't know it)
I can't be the only one who sees 3D as a waste of time and cinema? A waste of actors, script writers, directors? In my own opinion 3D is suitable for computer animation and horror movies and even then it has to have a reason. Why should i have to remember accessories when i go to watch a film?
Unfortunately i don't know anyone powerful enough to take the helm of the money machine that is the movie industry. But if YOU do please tell them to get off their arse and sort it out. i don't want to see the cinema industry die i want to go for the rest of my life.
This is my first blog so I don't know how to sign off.
